An Open Letter to President Trump

Dear President Trump,

On March 16, You announced a budget plan which calls for increasing funds for military spending and homeland security. To set off the increased spending, You have proposed sweeping cuts to several different governmental organizations that you and your administration may not think are necessary for American life.

We at The International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) are aware of the implications of these budget cuts and would like to defend Environmental Arts Programs like the WORLDS CHILDREN PEACE MONUMENT (WCPM), COASTWEEKS dot Com and the National Coast-to-Coast ‘GREAT AMERICAN PEACE TRAIL’. Across the world, the Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts is the cultural backbone of communities. The Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts can influence another culture and even bring cultures together. Environmental Arts is so strong on the global stage because of our uniqueness. The music, artwork and theater are all global phenomena using Iceality. The Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts is a powerful tool, one that the whole Trump administration should want to take full advantage of. Since 1987 in Cleveland, Ohio, Environmental Art has been a global commodity, and the power of a universal Language of Design that Environmental Arts is now considered as the cornerstone of the modern global sustainable movement and this concept is now replicated by artists, architects, urban planners and sustainable organizations throughout the World, reflecting a still growing global audience.

The Environmental Arts are also important for the American individual through the building of the GREAT AMERICAN PEACE TRAIL, and have now become a source of comfort and confidence building for Americans of all ages. Community artistic activities connected to the GREAT AMERICAN PEACE TRAIL encourage the individual to be in touch with his or her thoughts in a beautiful way and provide a healthy way for one to be in touch with his or her emotions. When someone is sad, he or she can channel sadness into a poem of peace and iceality. If someone is happy, he or she can perform an upbeat song. Any emotion in between can be channeled into the Art of Iceality in some way. The GREAT AMERICAN PEACE TRAIL can provide a way to express oneself in a world that can often silence emotions.

The GREAT AMERICAN PEACE TRAIL is also is a source of togetherness among Americans that can Unite America. Iceality allows people of all ages to create a community of good. It is touching that human beings can form such strong bonds over something so intrinsic to all cultures. Whether it’s through performing or listening, Iceality provides a common thread for all of us.

The Environmental Arts are now and always will be the centerpiece of American culture. Most popular American songs or famous American artworks are now a product of our love for Iceality in the arts. In recent years, arts programs at schools have been cut all around the country. The federal government to support the popular cause. The federal government, by supporting the environmental arts programs, says that the arts DO matter. By saying the arts do matter, the Trump Administration makes clear that the fostering of American culture is a high priority. The Trump Administration can make America great again by preservation of the soul of our country by creating the National GREAT AMERICAN PEACE TRAIL.

The International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) for 30 years already has a strong appreciation for the arts. Poetry slams, a cappella performances, art shows and civic engagement are quite popular in Cleveland. Greater Cleveland is expands its role as global home of the International Environmental Art Movement as the Primary Economic Engine for the Region and as the 'Cradle for a Universal Culture of Peace' for All Living Things. (Worlds Children). We are blessed to live in one of the most well-known hubs for art in the world, whether it be at the historic ARK in Berea or Playhouse Square. The only way to support for the arts is to continue our love and support for the Environmental Arts. Promoting Iceality here at The International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) and in our immediate community is easy and socially worthwhile.

Now that I think about it, there should be a National Iceality Day that is more encompassing in its scope than any other celebration in America. Iceality Day would be a day of potential, especially for All the Worlds Children. It is not about something 'other', but something we can celebrate and hold as part of ourselves. It is as intimate as Earth Day is for the Plants and Animals and International Peace Day is for the Human's but more encompassing in its scope than any other celebration on the calendar. It is about US as much as it is about the Animals, Fish, and Birds, about the Plants and Trees, Land and Waters. There is no escaping the Planet Earth. Very few have done it and never for long. The astronauts that are on the International Space Station are going to be off the Earth for a short time; the longest time anyone has spent away from our planet yet…so the universal symbol of peace, the WCPM is ready for Peace in Space.

The WORLDS CHILDREN PEACE MONUMENT members and scholars can support the global iceality methodology on a deeper level by supporting local arts. Like arts programs in schools, local museums and galleries all over the country need funding more than ever. Although on a smaller stage, smaller museums and galleries ensure that the environmental arts continue to thrive. Volunteering and even time spent on social media sites could make a difference.

We at the International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) know that all of our supporters treasure the myriad of animals, people and ecosystems scattered across our planet, and hope that as part of your Earth Day observances you are inspired to find ways Iceality can make a positive change on the Earth  for All the Worlds Children.

There is a song done by Lorne Green called the ‘Place Where I worship is the Wide Open Spaces’ where the base line rises and dances with the treble that descends and then mirrors it with the words…’built by the hands of the Lord’. It is a piece that could also be known as a hymn called the Iceality Song. I am humming it now as I sit on ‘Big Rock’ over looking the river at the ARK in Berea and writing this morning's story for Earth Day.

This past year, recovering from Cancer, I have explored the Earth, finding fossils washed out of the Rocky River, observing life moving across the Urth Island, and these past few weeks watching the return of steel head trout heading up stream to spawn. I have seen Canadian Geese building their nests and have looked up at the sky and have been amazed at what has always been there above but we've never recognized, and in it all have found something about me.

Now that I think about it, there should be an International Iceality Day that would be more encompassing in its scope than any other celebration on the international calendar. Preaching for the Earth isn't always the way to go. This is not to say that there are not issues we need to look at and examine. There are. But we cannot see them until we look for ourselves. There is something that Benjamin Franklin wrote that said: "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." All we can ask is for people to give it a look, a few minutes, the length of time of a favorite song. See what it is all about. We can treat nature as something outside us, outside the windows and doors of our homes, but it is Iceality, it is All of Us.

Earth Day seems like a good day to say thank you to all the people who support the Worlds Children from this last year. I thank you for spending your time with us. And thanks, Earth, for letting us get to know you. We look forward to getting to know you better and better.

Ambassador Renate calls Pakistan Easter Bombing 'Heinous'

At least 70 people were killed and more than 300 wounded after a terror attack in Pakistan

ARK in Berea (ICEAnews)  – In what she calls ‘heinous’, Ambassador Renate is condemning the Easter bombing of Christians in Lahore, Pakistan.
In a tweet, Ambassador Renate Jakupca says her thoughts and prayers are with all those killed or injured in the bombing yesterday at a park in Lahore that was crowded with families, with many women and children among the victims.
At least 70 people were killed and more than 300 wounded.
A breakaway Taliban faction that has publicly supported the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility, saying it targeted Christians celebrating Easter but most of those killed were Muslims.

Baba Brohi, Pakistani Peace Emissary  has also stated that his thoughts are also with those grieving the violent loss of so many in Pakistan. THE LAST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE - My Life with Ovarian Cancer

That would be August 12th, 2015.
It started out as just another beautiful Sunshiny summer morning at the ARK in Berea. Everyone including Mickey and Rebel were happy to be alive and excited to enjoy what the day had to offer.I had a pleasant internet chat with Baba Brohi, Pakistan Peace Emissary about events on September 21, and International Peace Day.

We always try to enjoy living everyday so in the early afternoon we took a break and went down in Metro Parks by the MSR behind the ARK in Berea to Rocky River at a place we call Om. The river at Om is a place of solitude, tranquility, inspiration and a place I have used to maintain a sound body, mind and spirit and today was no exception. For over 40 years we played, swam and fished here, on that hot afternoon the waters were cool and relaxing wading and playing with Mickey. As we sometimes do we made a stone river sculpture I called ‘Lorelei’. People ask why we make Environmental Art in the middle of nowhere that no one will see, that has no monetary value and will disappear in a few days. If you have to ask why?, don’t ask now.

Later that afternoon I finished work by re-editing and sending in the Press Release for “Cleveland's 4th Annual International Peace Day 2015 - A Week-Long Celebration”.

That night as I lay down to sleep, an undetected  Ovarian Cancer cyst would burst, silently and painlessly spreading its poison that would quickly and forever change the way I would live the rest of my Life.
This years 2015 International Peace Day is a culmination of events for me that started when the United Nations invited David and I and out Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts to participate in the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Summit’s message — that nothing less than a transformation of our attitudes and behavior would bring about the necessary changes — was transmitted by almost 10,000 on-site journalists and heard by millions around the world. In 1993 in Vienna, Austria, President Jimmy Carter and Geraldine Ferraro, US Delegates to the UN Conference on Human Rights would set the stage for the Theory of Iceality to participate in all UN Worlds Conferences until they were discontinued in 2007, reaching billions of people in a still growing audience.

"Ringing the Free Bell" After being diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in Aug 2015, I was proclaimed cancer free after finishing my Chemo Therapy Treatment in Jan 2016, and eligible to Ring the Free Bell as I left the Metro Health Cancer Center. Would have never made it without the help of my husband, family, friends, dog, cat, nurses, and Dr. Kimberly Resnick! Their encouragement and positive thinking helped me get through this! Thank You! This September 21, 2015 International Peace Day in Cleveland I will always remember not only for all the good it will bring to All the Worlds Children, but also because it will be the first day of my Chemo Therapy.
