Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Ambassador Renate shares thoughts of empathy, compassion, and community.

To all the Worlds Children, members, staff, and beyond:

In these uncertain times, I wanted to reach out to share that you, your family, your friends, and your colleagues are in our thoughts. We’re all anxious and things are changing quickly—each day feels like five news cycles. Our first priority is the health and safety of all the Worlds Children, our staff, visitors, and volunteers.

We’re approaching this time with the experience of helping to build communities for 30 years+. We do that with the humility we draw from the natural world, with the nimbleness the public expects from us, and through the grassroots network of families and individuals who connect through Iceality. Even while we’re coming to grips with this new normal, People everywhere have demonstrated a deep appreciation for just being safely outside where they can keep appropriate social distance and yet try to hear the songs of Spring approaching.

We’ve done the important basics: To help stop the spread of the virus, we’ve closed all WCPM offices, we’ve suspended all non-essential travel, and we’re postponing events and large gatherings. We’ve also closed all of our nature center at the historic ARK in Berea Eco-Museum while keeping the trails open for now. We’re regularly updating COVID-19 messages though inspirational posters by Dr. A.J. Brohi
 on our social media Facebook page, so you can see the status of the situation.

We’re continuing to work with our colleagues, some members of our conservation team are still able to perform important stewardship and monitoring work—and are doing so safely. Additionally, we’ve taken practical steps to ensure the health and continuity of the business side of our house as well.

We’re also looking at ways that the Worlds Children Peace Monument (WCPM) can help the broader community—and in times like these, Nature can provide a source of hope, a sense of resilience, and maybe even a little inspiration. Given the need for digital education tools with families staying home, we’re using this moment to leverage our digital tools and transform our educational programming and provide folks with online solutions that can be informative and fun:

•     We’re finding new ways of serving local communities, based on what they tell us they need.
  The CLEVELAND NATIONAL PEACE PLAN  for AMERICA.
•     We’re engaging our network to use at-home time productively. We can’t bring much activism to a system that’s appropriately focused elsewhere, but we can keep our network connected through compelling training on everything from building great advocacy ICEALITY campaigns to the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the conservation world.

To be sure, we’re all facing a long and challenging list of unknowns. We’re both gaining and losing visibility on what our new reality is each day—and it seems likely that things may get worse before they get better. But I’m confident that the International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) leadership team and its international and state and center boards have the conservation expertise and the business experience to make good decisions at a trying time.To our dismay, amid the  #COVID2019 controversy #Cleveland, #Ohio  is missing the chance of global leadership as the 'Cradle for a Universal Culture of Peace" for All Living Things! By delaying to implementing of the acclaimed Worlds Children Peace Monument (WCPM) Politicians are not utilizing the respected Science of Peace and Global Harmony, the Theory of Iceality, for maximum affect to save the Planet from self destruction.

Greater Cleveland Celebrates International Peace Day 2014

A COMMUNITY-WIDE ANNUAL WEEK LONG CELEBRATION!


Groups and individuals from all around the Greater Cleveland area are planning a tremendous International Day of Peace, September 21, 2014. Many are planning unique events. The United Nations' theme, Education for Peace, will be a focus for all the Worlds Children.

Greater Cleveland Celebrates International Peace Day was started in 2012 by American Cultural Ambassadors David and Renate Jakupca as part of the International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) Great Iceality Revelation.  The peace initiative promotes the Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts for a sustainable culture of peace for ALL Living Things through the Worlds Children Peace Monument.

The Science behind Peace and Global Harmony is the "Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts". Developed in 1987, it is the practical study on the aesthetics of the relationship between Humans and their Environment through Arts and Culture, ultimately promoting an effective sustainable global Culture of Peace between all Living Things ~ Human, Plant and Wildlife  Kingdoms!   The incorporation of the rights of flora and fauna in a "Universal Peace Equation" is the first major change in achieving a sustainable global Culture Peace on Earth in over 2000 Years. http://theicea.com/page22

2013 Year in Review “Spirit of the Times”

What is a dream? What is a dream of Peace for the Worlds Children?
It is a goal, an inspiration where Hope lives, a song for Iceality in the wilderness,

That is a dream. Get yourself a dream and never, ever let your dream get away.

2013 was all about this: trying new unexplored area’s of Peacekeeping I never was able to do before. The starting point of great dreams and achievement has always been the same for me. It is for you to dream BIG dreams. There is nothing more important, and nothing more exhilarating than for you to cast off your own limitations than for you to begin dreaming and fantasizing about the wonderful things that you can become, have, and do. That feeling makes you want to realize your biggest dreams,  feeling independent, feeling powerful at first, then astonishing fragile as a lamb and back again as a lioness.

2013 was for me the year of the new collaborations with some of my favorite Causes: from the role as Cleveland Ethical Fashionista for ICEA (for which I’ve been reconfirmed for 2014) to Universal Peace Ambassador for the Worlds Children Peace Monument (WCPM).

This year I am looking forward to working with Muhammad Atta Ur Rehman and The Multipurpose Inter Parliamentary Union – TMIPU, Mr. David Wright Of Global International, Mr. Elvis Bogonko, Executive Director at Jambo Charity Organization and Deans Triplett of Deans Images to name a few. New Peace Stones are already delivered to Nikki French for Ashtabula and Sean Brennan for Parma.
Sarajevo in Europe and Lisa Parker Co-Founder and Coordinator, Peace Day Philly have made inquiries for 2014 deliveries. And with ICEA's help and assistance, Cleveland may become an Official International City of Peace in 2014!!

This 2013 was a magic tragic year, full of joys and satisfactions but also of difficult moments, where I wanted/could/had to only count on myself. And you know something beautiful about it? You can do it. You suffer a bit, but then you wake up stronger than the day before.

But 2013 was also the year of Rewards: ICEA received a prestigious award from the Canadians for the First International stone of the Worlds Children Peace Monument erected in Windsor to mark the occasion of the 2013 International Children’s Games from Canadian Organizations.

David and I were honored at the Ohio Environmental Council’s 2013 Green Gala in Columbus, Ohio primarily for our part of the historic re-unification of the Greater Cleveland Community under the Iceality Silver Revelation.  North East Ohio Area has been 'branded' as the Home of the Environmental Art(s) Movement by the International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) as a 'Cultural Industry', to foster civic identity, cultivate jobs and tourism, and brand Ohio Environmental Arts and Culture District in the Bioregion.  We also received an award from AARP for recognizing our work with our peace project as Community Heroes. Among other recognitions are a Proclamation from Senator Michael Skindell and a Congressional Proclamation from Congresswoman Marsha Fudge dedicating the Lakewood peace stone as part of the building the National Coast-to-Coast 'Great American Peace Trail' and the Worlds Children Peace Monument (WCPM). This was an Official event of the 2013 Cleveland International Peace Day Activities.

We also presented two awards to the Cleveland Männerchor celebrating their 140th Anniversary.  I presented an award on behalf of Cleveland Councilman Kevin Kelley on behalf of the City of Cleveland.  At the same time a plaque was presented from the Ohio German American Business Association to Bill Trivison, President of the Cleveland Männerchor.   

My social media network grew like crazy in this year expanding to reach all four corners of the globe. A bit of thanks to social media, which helped me become better internationally known, a bit for my role of active blogger and influencer, and a lot of people who didn’t understand what we were doing started to respect me and replicate me. I also understood myself that my Ambassador job is a difficult to describe, but that I can use it to share a positive messages just by being myself. Never before have I felt freer to express myself and  speak my mind.  Not everyone will like me, but I’ve never been so happy of all the success I had by opening ICEA 26 years ago.
All this would have never been possible without my support group: It grew with Ken, Jane, Monica, Paul, Ruth, Douglas and Michael as new members all of which  composed by experienced dedicated people.

I don’t know where I’ll be in 2014, what I’ll do or what I’ll be feeling in a year: global peace seems possible yet mysterious. Changes don’t scare me anymore, they excite me. I still get happy as a kid for new projects and surprises, and this makes me proud.
I try not to set boundaries, but I also accept the tears and the times I lose, which make my success even more important.
I have a lot to learn yet and I want to grow and see the best of me, but in my wish list for next year, there is a wish which is the most important to me: never stop exploring. Exploring places, exploring people, exploring feelings and explore myself.  I want to discover all the magic of Peace around me. And yes, you all are a part of it: you’re the spell that made most of my dreams of Peace and goodwill for all living things a reality. Thanks for this 2013.  At the end of the year I ask myself, if this was my last year on earth, would I be happy with it?  My answer is yes. And really, that is all that I can ask for.

Worlds Children Peace Monument (WCPM)

At the ARK in BEREA Eco-Museum everyday is a green EARTHDAY.

At the famous ARK in BEREA, a Project of the International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA), the first thing a visitor encounters is a frontal landscape covered in food plants: apple, nut, cherry trees, grapes, raspberries, strawberries with organic vegetables and flowers grown in season. The grounds are an official wildlife habitat of both the Ohio Wildlife and National Wildlife Federations, not only providing food and shelter for all nature’s creatures, but setting an example of urban sustainability - adding Michele Obama in the White House as the newest convert!

The International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) was founded in 1987 to meet the compelling needs of ordinary citizens for access to current, balanced, understandable information about complex global issues.

On this Earth Day, confronting society are problems of mankind’s own making, solutions to which we, if we are to be responsible citizens of the Earth, must dedicate ourselves to. Humanity is daily destroying its rightful place in God’s universe with industrial pollution and violent acts against itself and its surroundings. Modern technology, more often than not, brings us closer to the assumed facts of these problems, promises to help us figure out solutions to them, yet creates a more complicated network of issues to confront than before.

Since its inception in 1987, the International Center for Environmental Arts (ICEA) has played a pioneering role in finding solutions to issues of contemporary urban life that will enhance our human-made environment, manage our natural resources and create works of art to delight the eye and the mind. Our environmental artists are central to each level of human existence, from the basic provision of food and shelter to issues of community, manufacture and governance. Berea, Ohio is the home of the global Environmental Arts Movement that is indigenous to North East Ohio. ICEAlity defines what it is to be humane in any natural endeavor.

ICEA’s mission statement is: “The Theory of Iceality on Environmental Arts.…to assist an understanding between humans and their environment through ARTS and Culture, ultimately supporting a sustainable Culture of Peace for all Living Things“.
This sums up what has been the right catalyst in the past decade for the interaction between technology and human expression to foster. ICEA’s responsible community programs and cultural projects will always be dictated by positive human values, and rooted in people’s sense of place on this Earth Day and the 364 days that follow.
Works of ICEALITY are models for holistic solutions to problems, rich in values, casual relationships between the parts of the composition and the whole, concerns for the quality of the product of the complete life experience.

"It’s possibly one of the most important things we (ICEA) can give to a child - teaching them the impact they have on the environment and the difference they can make just by themselves in the world," said Ambassador Renate Jakupca, co-founder of ICEA. The future into which young people today will be launched is already at hand in many respects. We know that it will be technology-driven for communications, visualization and information. We know that resources will be ever more scarce, and the options for using them constrained by the long-term effect of politics. Already the second generation of ICEA students are making use of the knowledge that they have acquired through our annual youth programs."

The depth of character, both individually and as a community, is tested not by actions in good times, but by the quality of decisions in difficult times. At the ARK in Berea, the global Home of the Environmental Arts Movement, we will be seeking opportunities to partner with the business community and social agencies, to sustain a high local quality of life for all. We will also work diligently to showcase our local community in attracting cultural tourism and new sustainable business development.
Communities that pull together in hard times emerge as the future leaders in better times. The investment by ICEA sends a signal to the cultural sector – it is time to lead through these difficult days ahead. ARK in BEREA: The Berea Chamber of Commerce have chosen a design by Cleveland artist Hector Vega for the cover of their GRINDSTONE Magazine.
But acclaimed Berea Environmental Artists David Jakupca, used the same basic image called "BEREA BUZZ" in collaboration with fellow photgrapher Denise Andrews for the copyrighted cover photo of the BereaBuzz.com community website.
Mr Jakupca said: "OK, you are required to do some research before you release a Magazine cover". The GRINDSTONE Cover is nearly an exact duplicate of Denise Andrews and my collaboration, which came out a couple of years ago.
"Both covers feature a collage of Berea landmarks. The exception is the Vega's omits in his cover the famous Worlds Childrens Peace Monument (WCPM). "BEREA BUZZ" was created directly in conjunction with the WCPM and its connection to ICEAlity to the International Art Scene, so before people run off about how cool the new Vegas cover is, show them the complete yours/ours "BEREA BUZZ" art work from Berea first."
"Naturally, when something we have slaved over and invested time and resourses (in Berea), fought for recognition over (in Berea), is so easily undone by jobbing out commercially, we feel a bit exploited. And if imitation is the highest form of flattery it is also the cheapest, but we are going to be the bigger man and just say we are proud as an American Cultural Ambassador to inspire other artists with My Original Work".

This claim comes just days after the Associated Press has determined that a image used in the Obama 'Hope' poster that was used everywhere during last year's presidential campaign by Shepard Fairey , is actually an AP photo and that its use required permission.

Related news is that the Irish band U2 was found copying the photo of their newly released No Line on the Horizon Album from Taylor Deupree, a musician from New York, who used the same image for his 2006 CD Specification Fifteen.
